Our Winemaker
Meet Ryan Pass
Sciandri Family Vineyards is proud to work with winemaker Ryan Pass. His thoughtful,
vineyarddriven approach reflects our longstanding commitment to Coombsville and
siteexpressive wines. A California native raised in Los Angeles, Ryan’s path into wine
began at UC Davis, where an early interest in science evolved into a clear calling for
viticulture and enology. One summer harvest in Napa Valley was enough to set his
course.
After graduating from UC Davis, Ryan worked at a variety of vineyards across Napa
Valley and Sonoma County as well as abroad in the Barossa Valley in Australia. But the
region that enamored him most was Coombsville. He deepened his understanding of
the appellations distinct character while making the wine at Farella, a historic vineyard
in Coombsville, for more than a decade.
Ryan joined Sciandri Family Vineyards in 2022, working closely with long-time
winemaker Don Baker. United by the belief that exceptional wine begins in the vineyard,
the collaboration was a natural fit. In 2023, Ryan crafted his first solo vintage for
Sciandri, bringing a restrained, balanced style that highlights site, season, and a deep
respect for the land—values that align seamlessly with our family philosophy. We’re
proud to work with Ryan and excited about the wines we’re creating together.
Outside the cellar, Ryan is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hiking, mountain biking,
and time in the mountains. He also spends much of his free time with his two young
daughters, sharing his love of nature and, occasionally, a sip of grape juice.
